Sony showed the first see-through SLT device last month during an exhibition in Japan. Pocket-lint and now has a chance to close out the model which is expected to realized in something more practical later in the year. The concept is based on a yet-to-be released midrange camera (which must be in the stores later this year), and sadly, Sony says, it is unlikely ever released in that see-through case.

“We wanted to prove we could do,” Sony’s UK marketing manager, digital imaging Andreas Georghiades told Pocket-lint, because we had a quick fondle the new chassis. The Alpha-Branded camera will use Sony’s tech translucent mirror, same as you might have come across on the SLT and SLT-A33-A55 varies released last year.

Samyang 35mm 1:1.4 AS UMC is an ornately f/1.4 35mm wide angle lens, designed for full-frame SLR camera. Yet it can also be used with APS-C/DX and Four Thirds cameras. JVC has just announced the launch of the world’s first 3D consumer camera – the HS-TD-1. Using the camera, anyone can now shoot 3D content that is visible on a 3D TV. The GS-TD-1 uses two camera lenses and two image sensors to capture 3D images in the same way that human eyes work.

Olympus introduces a new compact, entry-level digital camera, the VG-110. The 12 megapixel camera has a 4x optical zoom lens with 27mm wide angle and Dual Image Stabilization to reduce image blur. It gets a 2.7-inch LCD screen like on Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2.

Leave it to the wacky Japanese gadget makers to come up with a camera that does not look like a camera at all. Instead, this digital camera looks like a cat. Designed by the Japanese and Scandinavian design Power Shovel Lisa Larson, the Necono digital camera not only looks like a small striped cat, he has little magnetic feet, so it can hide in inconspicuous locations and pictures.

The Nano System Research Division of AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology Japan), which recently showed a new camera capable of taking color photos in the dark. It uses highly sensitive infrared technology that allows to capture real-time image in color darkness.

Using sophisticated algorithms to analyze wavelengths reflected from objects of different colors, the camera is able to fill the images with colors instead of the usual monochrome green color that we are used night vision cameras as well as JVC GZ-HM320 HD Camcorder. The camera is still in development stage yet, but there are plans to convert into a commercial product for sale to the public by the end of 2011 – they must first reduce and durable for everyday use.
