Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens Review
The Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens Canon is currently the fastest 28mm lens. And the only major lens that is faster, the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM lens.
My first thought after the removal of the Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens was out of the box that it is very similar to the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM Lens was great, build quality and appearance. And that’s a good thing. Not the best of the best, but nice.
The Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM lens uses USM (Ultra Sonic Motor) for fast and quiet autofocusing – much quieter than the same focal length Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 lens. This is also a good thing. Focusing speed is equal to or slightly faster than the 2.8 version. FTM (Full Time Manual) Focusing is a nice feature in the lens.
The Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens advantages compared to the 24 of the 28 f /2.8 and f/2.8 of a more-modern design, which his later introduction of the year. Another usable manual focus ring is one of the advantages of this difference – this lens manually focused very pretty.

The Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM is soft wide open. Stop the aperture f/2.8 and up to the center is sharp. Mid-frame performance (on a full-frame DSLR) is soft – even dimmed. Corner not affect performance much (if anything) about the mid-frame results. I am disappointed delivered by the sharpness of this lens. It is not what I expected.
Another disappointment is very obvious CA (Chromatic Aberration) is the Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM lens is at the center and corner parts of the frame. Slope to intercept is another remarkable characteristic negative. Although it is not bad to show some barrel distortion.
Background blur quality is decent. Out-of-focus highlights have seven pages when the lens is stopped down by a 7-blade diaphragm.
The Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens’ Minimum Focus Distance Maximum Magnification and are nothing special, but on a par with its peers.

If (unfortunately, this is a big if) the Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens’ picture quality is good enough for you at f/1.8, this lens is a good low-light handholdable lens.
On a 1.6 FOVCF body, Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 makes USM Lens a nearly normal 45mm lens. For those who have grown used to a 50mm lens on their film SLRs, you will feel at home with a 28mm prime.
