AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D is a low-profile lens with less sex appeal than the big glass, but it is nonetheless an interesting lens. With wide-open aperture, it is a little softer on the image borders and the contrast is too low. But in the medium apertures the resolution figures are exceptionally high and safely build a benchmark. Distortion is negligible, and vignetting is quite well. The construction quality of the lens is decent and the AF system leaves nothing to be desired.
