The popularity of video sharing sites like YouTube and Revver, coupled with the integration of video recording technology in the common consumer electronics devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras have almost become, in every aspiring videographer and documentary filmmaker. But perhaps the greatest pressure for conversion of videos in the hands of all, began with the introduction of cheap pocket camcorders in 2006. This new camcorder design bore no resemblance to the size and shape of what we traditionally expect to look like a camcorder, but it looked like a thick chocolate bar with a lens on one side and an LCD on the other.

Pure Digital Technologies began his pocket camcorder revolution, when it released the Pure Digital Point and Shoot, which later was renamed the Flip Video Camcorder. Pure Digital Technologies, followed with additional pocket camcorder models in the Flip Video product line, and soon other manufacturers were releasing their own pocket camcorder, such as Creative, Kodak and Sony. Most of them were sub-$ 200 camcorder, which suddenly brought the video camera in the financial realm. Pure Digital Technologies claims that its Flip Ultra model of “best-selling camcorder in the U.S., while the Flip Mino, launched last November, is currently the top selling HD camcorder in the country.”

Despite the recent, high-end pocket camcorder from Pure Digital Technologies, is the flip UltraHD surprisingly not the most expensive camera, which the company is currently sold. The most expensive camcorder is the Flip Mino $ 229.99. The Flip and the Flip Mino UltraHD (shares similar specs, they both have the same CMOS) sensor and optics, but the Flip Mino uses a compact design, a small (1.5 inch) LCD is only 4 GB of internal memory (for 60-minute recording time), and its battery is not removable. Since the flip UltraHD is a newer product, it uses an advanced video compression engine (the Flip Video Engine 3.5, compared to version 3.0 in the Flip Mino).

From a pure bang-for-the-buck perspective the recent flip UltraHD a better value. That is, if it has the features of the pocket camcorder so small and light as possible, your first priority (measures only the Flip Mino 3.94×1.97×0.63-inch and weight 3.3-ounce), this could be the Flip Mino better way to go.

The flip UltraHD is from a variety of online and retail sources. We have a quick online search and found that most vendors are currently selling the flip UltraHD camcorder for the MSRP of $ 199.99 at Amazon.
